Containment Isolator systems create a physical and an aero dynamic barrier between the operator and the work process. The product or process inside the Isolator can only be manipulated through the use of gloves or a robotic arm. Choosing an Isolation system involves considering the safety regulations, positive or negative pressure specifications, and monitoring and control requirements. Containment Isolators are integrated into full production lines and the most important thing is to control and monitor airflow.

ProSys Technology is known for its custom Containment Isolators of highly potent powders. However, did you know, we also custom build and design Containment Isolators for potent liquid handling? These single pass Isolators provide operator protection for applications including:

  • Drum sampling
  • Drum filling
  • Drum unloading

These Isolators can be designed for single drums, a pallet of drums or multiple cambers, for individual drum handling. Due to the nature of the liquids being handled, C22 Hastelloy construction can be provided. Roller conveyors with integrated weigh scales are often used for drum filling or unloading. Rigid or flexible dip tubes can be used with product pumps located either internally, or externally. Typically, the Isolator must meet both internal and external hazard ratings. ProSys Isolators generally feature the following:

  • Spray wand with removable spray gun
  • O2 sensor downstream of the exhaust point
  • 316L stainless steel, fully welded shell construction
    – Radius corners and internal edges
    – Internal metal surfaces polished 0.5 – micron Ra or better
    – External metal surfaces polished 0.8 – micron Ra or better
    – Chamber base door upstand creating sufficient volume to hold a full drum spill of > 200L without overflow from Isolator through open door
  • Toughened double laminate glass door(s) with inflatable seal providing operator access via the glove ports to carry out general tasks and operations inside the Isolator.
  • Allen Bradley PLC and PowerFlex Drive
  • Allen Bradley PanelView 10” HMI – functions include:
    – Lights on / off
    – Fan on / off with status indication
    – Automated RB ball valves on / off (open / close)
    – Front door seal deflate with status indication
    – Drum door seal deflate with status indication
    – Inlet valve open / close with status indication
    – Exhaust valve open / close with status indication
    – Emergency stop

  • Local Operator Panel (LOP) with Magnehelic gauges, cut-out for weigh scale indicator, HMI and E-stop
  • <75dBa noise levels in normal operation
  • Earthing bosses both internally and externally
  • Airhandling
    – Air entry via inlet screw-in H14 HEPA filtration
    – Operates with room air via automated open / close valve
    – Exhaust via DN80 connection with Automated open / close valve included. No exhaust filter
    – Painted cast aluminium exhaust fan located within 3m of the Isolator
    – Optional door open condition via side drum access door, with increased fan capacity plus increasing to 8” exhaust valve plus exhaust plenum with air distribution plate and bagout filters opposite drum door.
